Sean Dyche sack timeline drops at Everton as Friedkin decision mooted

Everton must sack Sean Dyche if they lose against Wolves next week, according to Tony Scott.

The Liverpool Echo journalist expressed concern ahead of a “horrendous” set of fixtures and mooted the clash at Goodison Park on 4 December as the make-or-break game for Dyche.

He is aware Farhad Moshiri has checked out amid the impending takeover but insisted that the Friedkin Group could decide on the future of the manager.

“Let’s make no bones about it, we’ve got a horrendous run of fixtures coming up and it all depends on that Wolves game”, Scott said on the Royal Blue podcast [27 November].

“That Wolves game is like make-or-break because I don’t care who’s at the football club, I don’t care who’s in charge of recruitment or planning, a decision will have to be made regardless because if we’re being beaten after Wolves with them fixtures coming up.”

Asked how the club can sever ties with Dyche without a proper decision-maker in place, Scott said: “You’re hoping that the Friedkins [would make the decision].

“What is it, two weeks we’re hearing, that could be the first two weeks of December. So, you’re hoping a decision will be made sooner than later.”

Everton are just two points above the relegation zone after failing to beat 10-man Brentford at Goodison Park on Saturday [23 November].

There is no optimism that Dyche’s side will take anything away from Manchester United when they visit Old Trafford on Sunday, 1 December. A defeat there could pull them into the drop zone.

The Friedkin Group is focused on completing the takeover of the club [Alan Myers], allowing the former Burnley manager to cling to the job.

It remains to be seen if he can convince the new owners to give him some more time despite a tough set of fixtures awaiting him.

Sergio Conceicao has notably emerged as a top candidate to take the reins at Goodison Park [TEAMtalk], so contingency plans may be in place.

With the likes of Graham Potter also available, the Friedkins will not be short of options if they decide to pull the plug on Dyche.
