Chris Sutton called out on live on BBC over Everton comment
Mark Chapman called out Chris Sutton over a comment made regarding Everton and the club’s transfer business.
Sutton implied on BBC 5 Live’s The Monday Night Club [2 December, 1h 47m 2s] that the Toffees had lacked the funds to bring in a prolific striker to help score goals on a regular basis.
However, the former Celtic striker then went on to bring up the fact that Beto was signed “for a fair bit of money”.
Show host Chapman then replied by simply saying: “Exactly”.

Everton may not be at the very top of the Premier League spending charts over the past six or seven transfer windows, but the club have still splashed out a fair bit.
Beto, for example, was signed in a deal potentially worth £30million [BBC Sport]. It is fair to say his goal return since then has not justified that fee.
Even last summer, Tim Iroegbunam was brought in for a reported £9m from Aston Villa, Iliman Ndiaye for £15m from Marseille and Jake O’Brien for £16m from Lyon.
Only Ndiaye of those is an attacker, of course, but the point is that Everton had money to buy players and yet the club are still far too reliant on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Too many are quick to defend Sean Dyche by suggesting he is working with a shoestring budget, but there is no excuse for the often-turgid football.
Everton also brought in Armando Broja last summer on loan from Chelsea, yet he is still to kick a ball for the senior side – hopefully something that will change against Wolves.
The transfer policy is next to shambolic, and it could well cost the Toffees their long-running top-flight status the way things are going.
