Leon Osman reacts to Dominic Calvert-Lewin ‘shame’ after Everton v Wolves
Leon Osman believes it’s a “shame” that Craig Dawson has now scored as many goals for Everton as Dominic Calvert-Lewin this season.
The Wolves defender put past his own goalkeeper twice under pressure from Calvert-Lewin, who has two Premier League goals to his name, as the Toffees routed Gary O’Neil’s men 4-0 at Goodison Park (4 December).
The result means Everton now have a five-point cushion to the drop zone, though Everton legend Osman – speaking live on Amazon Prime Sports after the clash (4 December, 21:40pm) – would have liked to see Calvert-Lewin register.
“[Craig] Dawson has now scored the same amount of goals that Dominic [Calvert-Lewin] has his season which is a shame really,” he said.
“Both of those efforts, I felt Dominic [Calvert-Lewin] could actually get on the end of, but as it happened, it didn’t really matter for Everton because they caused problems and forced a goal.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has had no luck at Everton this season
One of Sean Dyche and Everton’s main problems this season has been the lack of firepower the team has shown in the final third.
While all the other areas of their squad have been fairly solid, with the Toffees’ defence arguably the highlight of the Merseyside outfit’s season thus far, it feels like Dyche’s men are just waiting for their strikers to pull their weight.
Too many times this season, Everton have relied upon the likes of Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil to get them out of their rut but there will no doubt come a point when they have given all they can to the cause.

At the moment, the Toffees have four senior strikers within their ranks and while two have been out injured for most of the season, Calvert-Lewin and Beto should have done far better than they have.
Only time will tell what the future holds, but if the Englishman can’t re-find his goalscoring form, it’s hard to see how Dyche will keep him in his starting XI.
