Ernest Nuamah transfer on cards as Everton to repeat summer saga in January

Everton remain interested in signing Ernest Nuamah from Lyon ahead of the January transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.

The 21-year-old had agreed terms to move to Goodison Park in the summer before the proposed deal stalled [Sunday People], but the French outlet reported via their website on Tuesday [10 December] that he is still a player of interest to the Toffees.

Lyon will let Nuamah go if they receive a suitable offer in January and are hopeful of recouping the £20.6million [€25m] they forked out to acquire his services as they look to balance their books amid a risk of relegation [Daily Mail].

Everton to repeat summer transfer saga for Ernest Nuamah

The Merseyside-based club’s pursuit of Nuamah became a transfer saga of its own as they faced competition from Fulham for his signature.

Fabrizio Romano reported on the summer deadline day that the Cottagers had scored a victory over Sean Dyche’s side in the race to sign the Ghana international, who eventually decided to stay put despite Lyon’s efforts.

Like Everton, Fulham also retain an interest in signing the winger despite being rejected by him in August, while Crystal Palace have joined the mix this time.

Lyon, though, are being too positive by hoping they can recoup the £20.6m they spent on him, especially considering their own precarious situation.

Furthermore, Nuamah has managed only one assist in 13 appearances across all competitions this season, meaning his value has dropped further.

Nevertheless, the Toffees are evidently in the market for a new attacker in January, with Galatasaray’s Baris Alper Yilmaz also scouted over the weekend [TBR Football].

In other Everton news, this Toffees ace has made a transfer request as he edges closer to a Goodison Park exit in January.
