Farhad Moshiri underappreciated at Everton as Friedkin nears takeover – Alan Myers

Alan Myers has tipped his hat to Farhad Moshiri for his efforts at Everton as The Friedkin Group nears completion of their proposed takeover.

The Sky Sports editor, who has been appreciative of Moshiri, believes the British-Iranian has put in a lot of effort to get the takeover across the line.

He also heaped praise on the departing owner for his tenacity in overseeing the building of the Toffees’ new stadium despite several challenges, which he feels not many people appreciate.

“He [Moshiri] has worked hard to get this deal over the line”, Myers wrote on Sky Sports’ website [11 December].

“This deal will leave the club in a better place, certainly from the one he acquired, than many forecasters suggested, thanks to his decision to turn his loans into equity and his tenacious endurance to get the new stadium built in the face of huge challenges – some of them not appreciated by many.

“This will be his legacy. He will admit to making mistakes, of course – and there have been mistakes.”

There is no doubt that the Everton faithful will be glad to see Moshiri’s back once Dan Friedkin completes the takeover of the club, having seen the club go from competing to qualify for European football to constantly battling relegation under his ownership.

However, there is no denying that he has worked hard to get a deal to sell the Merseyside-based club over the line.

Moshiri is also determined to make life easier for Friedkin when he arrives at Goodison Park, having agreed to waive the debts owed to him.

He has also pledged to turn those shareholder loans into shares if the takeover does not go through before January as planned [The Guardian].

Moshiri is, therefore, keen to end his tenure with the Toffees on a good note and it appears there is light at the end of the tunnel now.
