Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer in agreement on Pickford after Everton draw v Arsenal
Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer were in awe of Jordan Pickford’s “excellent” performance for Everton in the 0-0 draw against Arsenal.
The 30-year-old has been singled out for his efforts in single-handedly thwarting the Arsenal attack on Saturday [14 December] as Sean Dyche’s men earned a hard-fought point at the Emirates.
Lineker and Shearer joined the long line of those to heap praise on the goalkeeper on The Rest is Football [16 December, 33:18] after a Man of the Match display in North London.
Lineker said: “Pickford was really excellent; he’s having a great season, actually.”
Shearer added: “Yeah, he is. [He] made one or two really great saves.”
Jordan Pickford can save Everton from relegation this season
Pickford capped off a fantastic week for Everton with a potentially job-saving performance for Dyche at the Emirates.
The Friedkin Group received Premier League approval to complete their Goodison Park takeover ahead of the clash [Alan Myers], and while Goodison News understands there is still no concrete timeline for the takeover to be completed, it is still progressing towards completion.
Dyche has followed up a resounding 4-0 win against Wolves with a draw away at Arsenal against all the odds – the tide could be turning on Merseyside.
However, the share of the spoils is entirely of Pickford’s doing – the home supporters even attempted to put off the goalkeeper with targeted chants, but to no avail.
He is now the first Premier League goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet at the Emirates this season.

The Toffees still linger three points above the relegation zone with a game in hand, but they will now be brimming with confidence heading into clashes against Premier League high-flyers Chelsea and struggling champions Manchester City.
Pickford, take a bow – the point against Arsenal as a result of his efforts could be the moment Everton reflect upon at the end of the season as the moment the fortunes properly changed at Goodison Park.
