Everton takeover already in action as transfer bid readied for Arsenal player
Everton Women are preparing to capitalise on The Friedkin Group takeover and launch a bid to sign Arsenal midfielder Kathrine Kuhl, Emma Sanders reports.
BBC Sport journalist Sanders reported via X [19 December] that Brian Sorensen’s side are looking to take advantage of the new-found fortune at the club as they attempt to bolster their ranks with a bid to pry Kuhl from Arsenal.
The American consortium completed the Blues takeover from majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri on Thursday [19 December] and will have immediate problems to address at Goodison Park, extending to the Women’s team.
Sanders wrote: “Now Everton’s takeover is complete, the women’s team hope to act on several transfer plans.
“Among them I’m told is a potential £100,000 bid for Arsenal’s Kathrine Kuhl. Arsenal rate Kuhl but appreciate she wants regular minutes. I’m told they’re open to loan & permanent offers.”

The Blues have endured a torrid Women’s Super League campaign thus far and have collected only nine points from 10 matches.
However, when the Toffees win, they win big after recording only their second victory of the year in a 2-1 win against Manchester City at Goodison Park on Sunday [15 December], courtesy of goals provided by Lucy Hope and Honoka Hayashi.
Sorensen picked up his first three points of the season in a controversial 1-0 win in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool after Hayashi was on the receiving end of a “staggering” penalty decision, as replays showed Fuka Nagano’s foul occurred outside the penalty area – Katja Snoeijs converted the match-winning spot-kick.
Nevertheless, Everton have claimed two big scalps in the WSL but have struggled against the rest, with five losses on record and only a four-point gap to bottom-of-the-table Crystal Palace.
Everton need reinforcements to salvage what remains of the WSL campaign, and a move for Kuhl makes perfect sense after the Danish international impressed on Merseyside during her loan spell last term.
The 21-year-old has featured only three times in North London upon her return, and with TFG’s backing, a £100,000 offer should prove too tempting for the Gunners to turn down.
Kuhl will not be the answer to all the problems that exist at the Toffees, but her acquisition would undoubtedly be a step in the right direction.
