Everton takeover: Journalist reveals if Dan Friedkin will attend Chelsea game

Ben Jacobs has revealed that Dan Friedkin won’t be in attendance at the Chelsea clash on Sunday after confirming the takeover of Everton.

The Toffees announced on Thursday (19 December) that the US businessman has completed his purchase of the Goodison club from Farhad Moshiri.

Supporters can now look forward to a new era in L4, starting with a tough test against Enzo Maresca’s side on 22 December.

Despite now completing a takeover, Jacobs has confirmed to talkSPORT (19 December) that the new chairman won’t attend the clash but that Friedkin Group representatives will.

He said: “The news is official, Everton have confirmed that the Friedkin Group are their new owners and there’s excitement among the group.

“A senior delegation will be at the Chelsea game at the weekend although not Dan Friedkin himself.”

Dan Friedkin to miss Everton v Chelsea after takeover completion

The Blue side of Merseyside will be on cloud nine after the announcement that the Roma owners have completed their takeover.

Supporters can now look forward to a clash against Chelsea who are flying high towards the top end of the Premier League table.

There is likely to be a partisan atmosphere around Goodison against the Blues but it will be unfortunate that Friedkin himself won’t be in attendance.

It would have only added to the noise in the home clash against Maresca’s men if the new chairman was watching on from the stands.

Regardless of this news, fans are going to be loud and proud to show their appreciation to the new group after taking over from Moshiri.

The now-former owner of the Toffees oversaw many financial issues and multiple points deductions which fans will be happy to hopefully see the back of.

There is plenty of hope surrounding L4 now and this could kick off perfectly with three points against Chelsea.
