Farhad Moshiri can let Everton exit doors hit him after final farewell message

Everton fans will be jumping for joy as Farhad Moshiri’s controversial tenure at Everton finally comes to a close.

The 69-year-old billionaire’s eight-year spell at Goodison Park is over and a new era has begun as the Friedkin Group (TFG) start their tenure as the new owners.

Understandably, the breaking news has been greeted with an incredible response from supporters, all of whom have been waiting endlessly for the change of keys to happen.

Those dreams finally become reality on Thursday 19 December, now confirmed by the club, and now Moshiri has written his final goodbye to the fans who have hounded him for the last few seasons.

All criticism of the former owner is understandable, especially during the takeover process as his silence when 777 Partners’ takeover attempt collapsed was completely deafening.

His lack of communication was even more frustrating when the Toffees were docked a total of eight points by the Premier League last season, with a possible third deduction hanging over the club’s head [The Times].

Everton fans wave goodbye to Farhad Moshiri

In his farewell message [Official website], Moshiri spoke about the “pride” he has in how the club came together over the last few seasons, sticking together when the going got tough.

If he hadn’t noticed already, the Toffees are still in a difficult position on the pitch and he has done little to show how much he cares or relates to how the fans are feeling.

One aspect of that is the age of the squad. Moshiri seems to think that they have “transformed” an ageing squad but Sean Dyche currently has the fourth-oldest squad in the Premier League [GiveMeSport].

Some thing just aren’t adding up.

Of course, he has invested heavily in the club over the years and should be praised for the building of the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium, but the negatives far outweigh the positives.

Fans have been left in the dark, especially since TFG’s bid to purchase the club from Moshiri, leaving those who care the most about the club to sweat over its future. Relegation? Points deductions? Administration?

All of the figures surrounding him to keep the club afloat must be praised for playing their part but Moshiri never looks like he has been lifting a finger in any department.

He has been searching for a new buyer ever since 777’s failed takeover attempt, being hammered by fans during the process, and now he claims to have “mixed emotions” as he walks through the exit doors.

As far as the supporters are concerned, he can let the exit doors hit him on the way out. It’s a new era for Everton Football Club and the passionate supporters have every right to be excited.

In other Everton news, Simon Jordan has already shared “legitimate concerns” in an immediate reaction to takeover news at Goodison Park.
