Friedkin makes Everton CEO decision as source shares heavyweight backroom update

The Friedkin Group will appoint a new candidate as the CEO of Everton instead of hiring someone from within, according to The i.

The newspaper reported via their website on Friday (20 December) that Dan Friedkin will not be “front and centre” of the Merseyside-based club, with the new CEO tipped to make big calls.

One source has tipped the new owners to “take their time” with the appointment of a new chief executive as they focus on bringing in someone with credibility and “heavyweight football experience”.

His presence allows the new owners to take their time and find the ideal candidate to take responsibility for big calls at the club.

It emerged in November that Everton sought the services of Nolan Partners to identify a new CEO for the Friedkin era [The Athletic].

The “renowned” recruitment firm was said to have held talks with possible candidates, with Fulham’s Alistair Mackintosh and ex-Roma chief executive Lina Souloukou under consideration.

Souloukou has since agreed to join Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis’ multi-club model, while it remains to be seen if Mackintosh is still in the running.

Nevertheless, the appointment of the CEO is one of the biggest decisions Friedkin has to make after buying the Toffees from Farhad Moshiri, so it makes sense for him to take some time.
