Everton in Georges Mikautadze transfer race as contact made for new striker
Everton are interested in signing Georges Mikautadze from Lyon, according to Foot Mercato.
The French outlet reported via their website on 26 December that the Toffees have already taken the centre-forward’s “temperature” ahead of discussing a transfer.
However, Sean Dyche’s side will have to do more to convince the 24-year-old about moving to Goodison Park as he is not interested in leaving Lyon.
Sean Dyche eye new striker as Everton transfer news emerges
Goalscoring has been a major headache for Everton this season, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin only netting twice in 16 Premier League appearances.
Beto, meanwhile, only has one goal to show for his 10 league appearances, while Armando Broja has only recently returned from injury.
Furthermore, both Beto and Calvert-Lewin are being linked with a move to Serie A in the upcoming January transfer window [Tuttosport & Gianluca Di Marzio].
It would, therefore, make sense for the Toffees to bring in a new striker through the doors at Finch Farm when the window opens next week.
Lyon forked out £15.3million to sign Mikautadze from Metz in the summer [Associated Press] and are keen to retain his services for the time being.

It is, therefore, unclear if the Merseyside-based club can convince both the club and the player about a transfer. Whether that will be in January or the summer also remains to be seen.
Mikautadze has bagged seven goals and one assist from 21 games in all competitions for Lyon this season.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are braced for interest from clubs higher up than Manchester United in Jarrad Branthwaite.
