Michael Owen shocked by what he saw as soon as Man City v Everton ended – ‘Wow’
Michael Owen could not believe his ears as Manchester City fans booed their team following a 1-1 draw against Everton on Thursday.
Pep Guardiola’s side now have just one victory in their last 11 matches in all competitions, frustrated more by Iliman Ndiaye’s emphatic equaliser at the Etihad Stadium on 26 December.
Man City looked to be cruising to three points after Bernardo Silva opened the scoring inside 15 minutes, though the Toffees were able to hold on for a precious draw away from home.
Writing via X on Thursday [26 December], Owen said: “Wow! Manchester City fans booing their team off at the end. Years and years of incredible success witnessing some of the best football the world has ever seen.
“And when the team needs them most…”
Everton tide turning after Manchester City draw?
Sean Dyche has been under considerable pressure this season, and rightly so, as the Toffees continue to float just above the Premier League relegation zone.
However, he was not the manager targeted with frustration at the final whistle, with Guardiola facing plenty of his own criticism as the current Premier League champions falter in all competitions.
Man City sitting in 7th is almost unheard of over the last few seasons, though sadly for the Toffees, the threat of relegation is no different at Goodison Park.
While there has been a recent buzz on Merseyside after The Friedkin Group’s takeover was announced, Dyche’s side are still fighting to remain in the division and recent form would suggest it is possible.

The Toffees are now unbeaten in their last four matches, including three consecutive draws against Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City, and Dyche must be praised for this right now.
Upcoming matches against Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Aston Villa could be extremely important, and recent performances have put them in a great position to push on.
