Everton living rent free in Neal Maupay head after what he has said

Everton are “living rent free” in the head of Neal Maupay after their defeat against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, Don Hutchinson says.

The ex-Toffees midfielder took a dig at the Frenchman after he expressed joy at the 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park on 29 December.

Hutchinson called the Marseille loanee a “failure” after he joked that he smiles when his parent club loses games this season.

On his personal X account (29 December), the 53-year-old wrote: “Obviously Everton are living rent-free in his head. Take heart, Everton fans, knowing that every night he is thinking of how much of a failure and he couldn’t handle or cope playing for such a great club.”

Neal Maupay is a disgrace for Everton after Nottingham Forest loss

Maupay has turned out to be a disgraceful signing for the Toffees with his latest antics.

The 28-year-old didn’t really light up Goodison during his time there after the transfer from Brighton, and the supporters were rightly not fond of him.

Olympique Marseille took the striker on a temporary move to Ligue 1 in the summer of 2024, and the fact that he’s still tied to the Blues makes his statements all the more troublesome.

Everton already have a lot of problems, sitting 16th in the Premier League, only three points ahead of the relegation zone.

Sean Dyche has done well in December, though, taking points away from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City, likely keeping his job safe for the time being.

One positive aspect of the defeat on Sunday though, was Armando Broja’s first start at the Blues after his loan move from Chelsea.

The Merseyside outfit will face Bournemouth in their next league fixture on 4 January, and they need to once again be wary of a team that has surprised many in the current campaign.
