Everton players reaction questioned after Neal Maupay disrespect

Henry Winter has questioned how the Everton squad will react to Neal Maupay after his latest dig at the club after the defeat against Nottingham Forest.

The Blues fell to a 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park (29 December) and sit in 16th in the Premier League, as the Frenchman could not resist a dig at his parent club after the contest on his personal X account.

Maupay is still contracted to the Toffees after joining Marseille on a season-long loan in the summer and Don Hutchinson criticised the former Brighton man’s antics, with Winter now hitting out too.

Writing in a reply on X, he said: “Disrespectful and naive. Neal Maupay is *checks notes* still technically an Everton player.

“On loan at Marseille who have an obligation to buy (and doubtless will as he’s been playing better recently).

“Be interesting to hear Everton team-mates’ view of Maupay (32 games, 1 goal).”

No way back for Maupay at Everton

The Marseille man was already considered as a major flop among the Blues fanbase and the latest incident will not increase his standings with the fans.

There is no way back for him at Goodison Park and surely he will depart next summer with his tail between his legs as the French club has an option to buy the controversial forward.

Making jibes at the club on social media is pathetic, especially considering that he scored just one goal in 32 appearances during his time with the Toffees.

It is not like Blues fans were not supportive of the former Brentford man and the jibe was completely random, he has done this before.

The comments will more than likely make Blues supporters laugh rather than provoke any kind of anger with the club on an upward spiral following the Friedkin Group’s takeover and the upcoming move to the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium.

The new owners will wash their hands of the Frenchman and it is safe to say he will not be welcomed to the new ground with open arms.

In other Everton news, the Blues could seal a move for a Newcastle ace who has played 16 league matches this season.
