Jordan Pickford gifted ultimate reward at Everton before Nottingham Forest loss

Darren Bent has named Everton star Jordan Pickford in his Premier League Team of the Season so far.

The 30-year-old has been the subject of a heated debate regarding his credentials in the Premier League this year, as he suffered a bad day at the office at Goodison Park after Nottingham Forest undid him in the 2-0 loss on Sunday (29 December).

However, prior to the defeat, former Premier League forward Bent named the goalkeeper in his Team of the Season so far live on Sky Sports News (29 December, 2:14pm) as Pickford rightfully received his flowers for his “brilliant” displays in the Everton goal this year.

Jordan Pickford is proving his worth at Everton

Pickford has taken his game to the next level at Everton this season and rightfully deserves his place among the Premier League’s best-performing players.

Sean Dyche received all the praise for guiding the Blues past daunting clashes against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City unscathed.

However, Pickford kept two clean sheets against the London sides and heroically saved an Erling Haaland penalty to earn the Toffees a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium on Boxing Day.

While the shot-stopper has been on the receiving end of the plaudits, particularly after his “excellent” performance against Arsenal, his erratic approach has come under the microscope in recent weeks.

His efforts during the draw against Chelsea were overlooked after his challenge on Malo Gusto stole all the headlines, with many believing the goalkeeper should have received a red card and cost his side a spot-kick.

Regardless, Pickford’s form has directly led to the Blues’ resurgence under Dyche, and while the loss on Sunday somewhat derails the hard work, the foundation is there to be built upon heading into 2025.

Evertonians have known for the longest time that the goalkeeper is among the Premier League elite, and he is walking the walk once again this term at Goodison Park.

In other Everton news, The Friedkin Group may have to sack Sean Dyche after a new stat surfaces at the Toffees.
