Sean Dyche provides fitness update on Everton duo ahead of Bournemouth
Everton boss Sean Dyche has provided a fitness update on Seamus Coleman and Dwight McNeil ahead of his side’s game against Bournemouth.
The Toffees were without the two experienced players as Dyche’s side fell to a 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park on Sunday (29 December), McNeil now having not featured since the 4-0 hammering of Wolves on 4 December.
After Coleman was involved against Manchester City on Thursday (26 December), supporters will have been surprised to see the captain missing from the squad again.
However, the boss provided an update ahead of their game against Bournemouth on Saturday (4 January) as he said in his post-match press conference: “Seamus was a niggly one but we’re going to have to wait and see how quickly that settles.
“We asked a lot of him you know, going back in at Manchester City it was a tough game obviously so a bit frustrated more than anything.
“Dwight we’ll just wait and see how quickly that settles down.”
Sean Dyche hoping for better things to come at Everton
After a difficult season so far, which has been impacted by events off the pitch, Dyche will have been hoping for easier things to come after the completion of the Friedkin Group’s takeover.
Despite a solid month so far that included the Wolves win and draws in games against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, the Toffees were not up to scratch against Forest and while they were against opponents in excellent form, Dyche made it clear he was unhappy with his side’s performance.
In addition, the manager will have been disappointed to have had two of his key players missing from a tough game. Coleman was back in the side against Manchester City with supporters surely hoping that would mean he was back to fitness after a difficult season with a lack of game time so far but it seems as though it may have been too soon.
Meanwhile, McNeil has made 13 appearances this term and Dyche will be hoping to have one of his key players back as soon as possible in the New Year.
With another tough test against an in-form Bournemouth next up, the hard work continues for the Blues and the boss will be hoping he has as many players as possible available for the clash.
In other Everton news, the Toffees have been linked with a move for this winger in the January transfer window.
