Dyche should let Calvert-Lewin leave as January loan update emerges at Everton

Sean Dyche should let Dominic Calvert-Lewin leave Everton in January if he signs Evan Ferguson on loan.

The Toffees’ number nine is out of contract at the end of the season and looks set to depart on a free transfer with Newcastle United showing an interest [Alan Nixon].

If the 27-year-old was to depart, as well as Beto who has been linked with a return to Italy, Dyche’s side would certainly be left light up front.

With that being said, if a new striker can be recruited in January, it would be worth bringing in a fee for Calvert-Lewin if a suitor shows an interest.

The England international has never truly been a regular goalscorer but still provides a focal point, which could be sorely missed if he leaves.

Armando Broja has shown in recent substitute appearances that he has the capabilities but with a poor injury record, it is unclear how many starts he could make in a season.

As a result, bringing in a bright striker prospect with Premier League experience could prove to be a smart piece of business.

Although the Republic of Ireland international has become a fringe figure at Brighton this season, there is no doubt that the 20-year-old has qualities that make him an excellent striker.

With regular minutes under Dyche as the focal point at Goodison, there is every chance that the ex-Bohemian youngster can thrive and prove that the Toffees don’t need Calvert-Lewin.
