James Garner to be delighted as Everton transfer update emerges ahead of January

James Garner will be delighted that Everton have already failed to sign a new midfielder ahead of the January transfer window opening.

The 23-year-old has made just four appearances in the Premier this season after an injury-hit campaign.

The England Under-21 international has been absent since early October but could be set to return to the Toffees’ side in January.

With that being said, if Sean Dyche opts to bring a new midfield option in, the ex-Manchester United man’s minutes could be limited when he’s back to full fitness.

James Garner to be delighted by Everton January transfer update

The L4 club have shown an interest in bringing Arthur Melo to the Blue side of Merseyside previously but had reignited their interest ahead of the winter window.

The Brazilian has now reportedly rejected a proposed move to Goodison Park due to his loyalty to former side Liverpool [Juve FC], despite making just one appearance for the Reds during a loan spell in 2022.

Juventus are open to letting him leave but with this past – albeit brief – allegiance to the Reds, a January transfer or loan now looks to be off the table at Goodison.

Dyche and Co. may turn their attention to a new midfield option but, until then, Garner will be hopeful of returning to the starting XI and featuring regularly.

The Englishman has plenty of technical ability and could benefit from plenty of minutes and the chance to improve.

There is every chance that with this opportunity the former Nottingham Forest loanee could become a key member of the squad at Goodison for many years to come.

In other Everton news, a pundit has namedropped Erling Haaland as the frustration that Dyche is causing has been named.
