Although he has racked up 149 appearances over the last five seasons, the Toffees should be able to live without him, even more so if they are already lining up a potential replacement for him.
Habib Diarra is an extremely exciting midfielder, currently plying his trade with Strasbourg in Ligue 1, and Everton could be about to offer around £16million to sign him this month [Foot Africa].
While the 21-year-old only has four goal contributions in 14 games this term, he is being played in a much deeper position than he has before, and he has plenty of time to adjust at his age.
Doucoure, at 34 years of age, is at the complete opposite end of his career, which suggests that a midfield switch could be a masterstroke during the January transfer window.
