Nathan Patterson Everton future decided after Seamus Coleman latest
Everton would find it “tough” to allow Nathan Patterson to exit Goodison Park in January, according to the Liverpool ECHO.
The newspaper reported via their website (3 January) that now Seamus Coleman has found himself sidelined again, the Toffees need to keep the Scotland full-back among their ranks and Sean Dyche has indicated he remains in his plans.
The former Rangers man has struggled for form and fitness since arriving from Rangers in January 2022 but it appears for now Everton have decided his immediate future remains at Goodison.
Everton are correct to keep Nathan Patterson at Goodison Park
At the moment, Everton are sitting 16th in the Premier League table and only have a two-point cushion between themselves and the relegation zone.
It goes without saying that things have been difficult at Goodison Park this term but now that Patterson looks set to stay, things could start to turn around.
Since the start of the campaign, Ashley Young has helped out Dyche massively due to the impressive performances that he’s put in.
Coleman has stepped up to the plate when available but given his advancing years it feels like it’s about time to either put faith in Patterson or try to move him on and source a replacement.
There is definitely a player in there but he has had struggles with injuries and form, so at point Dyche and the Everton decision-makers need to figure out whether he is worth pursuing with.

Keeping the right-back with the Merseyside outfit for now is the best-case scenario for both parties and there’s no doubt that the Scotsman will want to try and forge himself a career with Everton.
And, as long as he can stay fit, it feels like he could be the long-term successor to Coleman or even young when they eventually hang up their boots.
