Jarrad Branthwaite slammed by BBC pundit after Bournemouth v Everton
Efan Ekoku has slammed Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite after the Toffees suffered a 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth on Saturday.
The English defender’s positioning while David Brooks found the back of the net was suspect and the BBC pundit could not understand what the 22-year-old was doing at the time.
The ball was close to Branthwaite and instead of attempting to head it to safety, he ducked and Jordan Pickford could do nothing to stop it from going into the net
Speaking on the Premier League world feed on 4 January at 16:40: “Branthwaite ducks. Why does he duck? It makes no sense.”
Jarrad Branthwaite must do better as the best defender at Everton
A defender of Branthwaite’s calibre should be doing better from that position.
He could have made some attempt to stop that ball from going into the back of the net and it was disappointing to see him not doing that.
The 22-year-old is the best defender at the club and Sean Dyche will not be too pleased when he sees the replay of the goal again.
Hopefully, Branthwaite learns from this and does not repeat the mistake as it can cost his side more points in the future.
That said, while it was only the one goal that separated the two teams, the Toffees were by far the second best team on the pitch.

Dyche needs to quickly turn things around if he is to prove to The Friedkin Group that he’s the right one for the job.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are in advanced talks to seal a new transfer and are expected to table a £16.5m+ bid.
