Jason Cundy baffled live on air by what Everton fan said about relegation
Jason Cundy could not believe his ears as Jamie O’Hara read out a text message from an Everton fan following their 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
The Toffees were condemned to their eighth defeat of the Premier League campaign, leaving them still two points above the relegation zone with just 19 matches left to play.
Sean Dyche looked as though he could be about to walk away from the Vitality Stadium with a point on 4 January, only for David Brooks to leather a brilliant volley past Jordan Pickford with 13 minutes left to play.
An Everton fan messaged into talkSPORT [4 January, 6:30pm] to share a hope of his team being relegated, to which Cundy replied: “Seriously?”
Everton fans wishing for relegation at Goodison Park?
There is absolutely no underplaying just how destructive and detrimental a drop down to the Championship would be for the Merseyside club right now.
While The Friedkin Group’s takeover has offered a huge boost to the Toffees, virtually wiping out all debt, relegation would be incredibly harmful, especially if they were to get stuck in the division.
With the team moving to the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, the last thing that Everton can do is find themselves in the second tier of English football.
Dyche has worked wonders with much worse squads, too. Kevin Thelwell worked overtime to supply him with multiple talented players during the summer so the expectation of better performances is only fair.

However, that is not the situation that the Toffees find themselves in. After 19 matches, they only have 17 points and are fighting against Wolves, Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton to stay out of the dropzone.
Anyone hoping for the Merseyside club to be relegated from the Premier League is clearly not a true supporter. Therefore, Cundy’s reaction is more than fair enough.
In other Everton news, Mike Dean shared his “gut feeling” after an incident emerged in the defeat to Bournemouth.
