Jordan Pickford ‘Outstanding’ after what he did in Everton v Bournemouth
Clinton Morrison was left stunned as Jordan Pickford made one of his several saves for Everton against Bournemouth.
The England international has been superb this season for the Toffees and continued that to keep the scores level before the Cherries eventually secured a 1-0 win on Saturday (4 January).
One particular save up against Antoine Semenyo caught the eye of the former Crystal Palace forward live on Sky Sports News (4 January, 16:12)
Piling praise on the goalkeeper, he said: “He’s been outstanding. Without him, they’d be right near the bottom, Everton. It’s a big save.
“It was good play down the left-hand side. It came to Semenyo, he drilled it, it looked like Pickford was going the wrong way but it’s a great save.”
Jordan Pickford hailed for Everton save v Bournemouth
There is almost no doubt that the 30-year-old is the Toffees’ most important player and this moment on the South Coast is just further proof of that.
Without the Englishman, there is every chance that the home side could have opened the scoring earlier in the clash than they eventually did.
Given that Sean Dyche is under pressure at Goodison after the takeover from The Friedkin Group, this result isn’t what he needed.
Despite this, the Cherries could have easily scored more freely if it wasn’t for the away side’s keeper who made multiple key saves.

Looking ahead to clashes against Aston Villa, Tottenham and Brighton, Pickford will have to maintain this level if the Toffees are going to secure a positive number of points from this run of games.
His performance at the Vitality is evidence that England’s number one can do exactly that, it is down to everyone else to up their level to match the shot-stopper.
