Kevin Thelwell has Wesley answer after £16.5m Everton transfer news
Kevin Thelwell already has the answer for his interest in Wesley amid a £16.5million bid from Everton.
Thiago Asmar reported on 3 January that the Toffees are in advanced talks to secure the right-back’s services from Flamengo.
It was claimed that the Merseyside-based club are expected to make an offer in the region of £16.5m and £24.8m.
However, Thelwell may have to rethink the approach after what has recently been reported in Brazil.
First Friedkin transfer at Everton may not be Wesley
According to Vene Casagrande, Flamengo consider Wesley “non-negotiable” in this window, meaning he is not for sale.
The reliable Brazilian journalist, who boasts over one million followers on X, added that the Rio-based club want to keep the 21-year-old at least until the FIFA Club World Cup in June amid a lack of replacements in the right-back position.
Although Casagrande did not mention anything about Everton’s interest, he revealed that Aston Villa are the only club to have formalised an offer for Wesley. The bid was immediately rejected.
With Flamengo refusing to enter talks with Villa, it is evident that they do not intend to sell the full-back this month.
Therefore, Thelwell is better off shelving his interest in the defender and turning his attention to alternatives.

Sean Dyche’s side have three right-backs in their ranks in Ashley Young, Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson.
However, Young and Coleman are in their late 30s, while Dyche does not seem to favour Patterson much.
It is, therefore, easy to see why the Goodison Park outfit are interested in signing a new right-back this window, but that will not be Wesley by the looks of it.
