Everton relegation: Main worry emerges after what happened v Bournemouth

Everton could get relegated from the Premier League if they don’t solve their goalscoring issues, Clinton Morrison says.

The Sky Sports pundit fears for the Toffees’ safety after their 1-0 loss to Bournemouth on Saturday at the Vitality Stadium (4 January).

Morrison feels the Blues are too reliant on Jordan Pickford’s brilliance and their overall defensive solidity to get a result.

Speaking on Football Daily’s Premier League Review (5 January), the 45-year-old said: “The ones who I worry about are Everton because they don’t score enough goals.

“You can’t keep relying on Pickford and the back four to play brilliantly. He was outstanding against Bournemouth, and they nearly got a point. But if they don’t solve that problem of scoring goals, I worry about them.”

Everton at risk of Premier League relegation under Sean Dyche

Sean Dyche has managed to retain the Merseyside outfit’s top-flight status over the years, but things look bleak at the moment.

The Toffees are 16th in the league table, just one point above 18th-place Ipswich Town, after underwhelming results in recent matches.

While the Blues did well to get points off of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, they struggled against Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth.

Everton have scored the second-fewest goals in the Premier League this season, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto seem to be missing their shooting boots.

Armando Broja has started the last two matches after his return from injury, but the Albanian has been unable to make much of an impact and picked up another possible issue.

Youssef Chermiti is another number nine Dyche hasn’t been able to rely upon due to his fitness issues.

Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil have been the saving grace up front for the Merseysiders, but more players need to contribute.

It would be embarrassing for the Toffees if they were to go down to the Championship before their move to Bramley-Moore Dock.

In other Everton news, some very hot hours are expected as Beto waits to leave in the winter window.
