Friedkin Group hold crunch Sean Dyche sack talks at Everton – Sky Sports

The Friedkin Group have held crunch talks over the future of Everton manager Sean Dyche, according to Sky Sports.

In an update shared via their website on Monday (6 January), the broadcaster provided a breaking update on Dyche’s future at Everton.

Dyche’s future at Goodison Park has been called into further question following Saturday’s (4 January) 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Everton have won just one of their past 11 matches are are just one point above the Premier League relegation zone, while Dyche’s comments after the Bournemouth loss did little to help matters.

“Everton’s new owners The Friedkin Group have been assessing the club’s direction and the future of manager Sean Dyche over the weekend, Sky Sports News understands,” the update read.

“The Friedkin Group’s plan was to get to the end of this season and then conduct a full and detailed evaluation of the club.

“But there are concerns about the team’s performances and discussions have taken place to agree how best to proceed.”

Sean Dyche surely done at Everton after latest loss

Dyche steered Everton to successive draws against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, although there was always a sense that was a case of papering over the cracks.

That run was followed by a rather dismal 2-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest and then this weekend’s 1-0 loss at Bournemouth.

It is now one win in 11 matches and the Toffees are once again in a serious relegation battle, and this time without having any points deducted.

Dyche surely always knew his time on Merseyside would be up come the end of the season when his contract expires.

The Friedkin Group will not be at all inspired by what they have seen in recent weeks, though, and it may well be that Dyche is gone before the month is out.

If that is the case, there surely cannot be too many complaints. The bottom line is that Everton quite simply cannot afford to drop down to the second tier.

Everton have another couple of weeks before returning to league action, with Peterborough United up next in the FA Cup, and it will be interesting to see if Dyche remains in the dugout for that.

In other Everton news, a player is hoping to get the green light to seal a Goodison Park exit this month.
