Everton condition to sack Sean Dyche named

Everton will only sack Sean Dyche if they can get Graham Potter in as his replacement, according to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett.

The future of the former Burnley boss has been brought under major scrutiny recently due to the Toffees’ poor form on the pitch, which is why Potter’s name has been linked with the job.

Speaking on Sky Sports (7 January), Dorsett shared what he has been told about the Potter and Dyche situation.

“It has been suggested to me that one or either club [West Ham and Everton] will only make a change if they can get potter,” Dorsett said.

“So that will be interesting to see what’s going to happen over the next 24 hours.”

Everton could do far worse than Graham Potter

Although Dyche is a Premier League survival specialist, it’s hard to ignore the poor form that Everton have found themselves in this season.

Granted, there have been times when the Toffees have shocked opponents but those occasions have come too far between one another to have much of an impact on their league standing.

The club aren’t yet in the drop zone but with their gap to the bottom three spots only being a one-point cushion, things could go south in an instant.

Potter didn’t have the best of times while he was in charge of Chelsea but with Everton having their new owners and a new stadium next season, it feels like this could be an ideal opportunity for the former Brighton boss to leave his mark on the Premier League once again.

His time in charge of the Seagulls was arguably the best of his career and it feels like the Merseyside outfit would be a similar project that would suit the Englishman down to a ‘T’.

Only time will tell what the Friedkins choose to do but in reality, it doesn’t feel like there’s many better options than Potter at the moment.
