Everton in ‘serious trouble’ after what Richard Keys saw Jordan Pickford do

Everton are on course to land themselves in “serious trouble”, according to Richard Keys.

The pundit fears the worst for the Toffees after witnessing them struggle to score goals in their recent games, including their 1-0 loss against Bournemouth on Saturday, 4 January.

Keys, who expects Sean Dyche’s future to be sorted sooner than later, pointed out that Jordan Pickford is “single-handedly” keeping the Merseyside-based club in certain games.

“Don’t rule out Everton getting into serious trouble”, Keys wrote in his personal blog (6 January).

“I’m not a big Jordan Pickford fan, but he’s keeping them in games single-handedly at the moment.

“The Toffees are poor and there isn’t a goal in them.”

Everton goalscoring a headache for Sean Dyche

Keys is right about Everton not having a “goal in them” at the moment. Goalscoring has proved to be a major headache for Dyche, with none of his attackers delivering the goods.

It is worth noting that the Goodison Park outfit have scored just five times since November. Even bottom-placed Southampton have scored more.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin began the season as Dyche’s first-choice striker, but his performances have left much to be desired. He has just two goals and an assist to show for his 19 Premier League appearances.

Dyche’s side have struggled to come up with ideas in attack, particularly in Dwight McNeil’s absence.

The 25-year-old has missed the Toffees’ last five league games due to a knee injury. His team scored just once in those matches.

Dyche, therefore, needs to address the goalscoring problem immediately if he wants to keep Everton in the Premier League and possibly keep his job.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have made a loan-to-buy bid to sign this international player.
