Everton new manager: Graham Potter decision mooted after West Ham twist
West Ham United will appoint Graham Potter as their next manager over Everton, Jamie Carragher says.
The pundit believes it would be a fifty-fifty decision for the English manager, who has been linked with both the Toffees and the Hammers [Sky Sports, 6 January].
Carragher feels the 49-year-old will potentially choose the Irons over the Blues due to their recent successes, with Sean Dyche under real pressure.
Speaking on Sky Sports [6 January], the ex-defender said: “In my head, I think Everton are a bigger club than West Ham, and that’s maybe me going back to my childhood and watching them winning trophies and West Ham not winning really too much. But Everton have been so poor for the last 10 years.
“West Ham have won a European trophy, they’re in London, they’ve got the Olympic Stadium. I do think it’s more of a fifty-fifty decision now. And maybe right now, you veer more towards West Ham because you’re guaranteed to stay in the Premier League next season.”
Graham Potter to be new manager of Everton?
Potter is seen as one of the more exciting managers in the Premier League despite his underwhelming spell at Chelsea.
The Englishman did wonders during his time at Brighton, laying the foundations of an established English top-flight side.
On the other end, Dyche has the Merseyside outfit struggling around the relegation zone after the loss to Bournemouth on Saturday (4 January).
The former Burnley manager deserves credit for retaining the Toffees’ Premier League status during some tumultuous years, but he has failed to bring the best out of the squad this season.

Dyche arguably has a better squad at his disposal than the previous campaign, and they shouldn’t be languishing near the bottom of the table.
The 53-year-old’s defensive approach to games has frustrated many of the Goodison faithful, leading to many calling for his sacking.
Unsurprisingly, The Friedkin Group have held crunch talks over the head coach’s future at the Blues [Sky Sports, 6 January].
Potter would bring much-needed freshness to the Merseysiders, but West Ham are arguably in a better place to get him due to the quality of their team.
