Everton ready permanent transfer to sign Aston Villa star

Everton have opened talks over a move for Aston Villa star Jaden Philogene, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist revealed on 7 January that the Blues are in negotiations with the Villans over a possible permanent transfer for the 22-year-old.

The Blues are in desperate need of attacking talent as Sean Dyche bids to save his job at Goodison Park after a run of five matches without a win.

Philogene is yet to notch a goal contribution in 11 games in the Premier League for Villa so far this season.

Everton to sign Jaden Philogene?

This would be an intriguing twist at the start of the January window.

The majority of the Goodison Park faithful have been consistently told to not expect much business, especially not permanent signings, so something has changed.

Dan Friedkin completing his takeover may have helped matters, but with PSR still tight, some smart clauses may need to be included in this deal to make it permanent.

Everton could sign Jaden Philogene

Philogene was electric at Hull City in the Championship last season, but since his return to Aston Villa, he has not been the same player.

Struggling for consistent game time, but with appearances in the Champions League, a move to Merseyside could be exactly what he needs at this stage of his career.

Dyche is facing the sack with crunch talks being held already, but if he is still in charge when signings like this are possibly made, it looks like he will be given more time.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have made a loan-to-buy bid to sign this international player too.
