Graham Potter appointment: Everton to face hard-bargain with talks ready

Graham Potter will drive a hard bargain with Everton during talks over their managerial role, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcasters reported via their website on 7 January that Potter is expected to hold further talks with the Toffees after meeting their senior officials on several occasions in recent months.

However, with West Ham also holding talks over hiring him, the Englishman is in a strong position to decide who he wants to join if he is interested in the proposals at all.

There are suggestions that both teams may only change their manager if they can persuade Potter to join them.

Sean Dyche faces sack at Everton with Graham Potter talks ready

When The Friedkin Group’s takeover was finalised in December, it was suggested that they would stick with Sean Dyche for the time being [TEAMtalk].

However, it appears the new owners’ patience is already wearing thin as the Merseyside-based club are placed 16th in the Premier League after 19 games. They sit only a point above the relegation zone, although they have a game in hand.

Therefore, Everton are considering sacking Dyche as they look to climb up the ladder in the second half of the season.

West Ham, meanwhile, have already decided to sack Julen Lopetegui and have offered their head coach role to Potter until the end of the season [The Times].

It is possible that the Goodison Park outfit are giving serious thought to bringing their plans to hire a new manager forward because of the ongoing discussions at the London Stadium.

If Potter is one of the Friedkins’ preferred candidates to replace Dyche, they certainly would not want to lose him to West Ham.
