Graham Potter in Everton transfer talks with top Goodison officials – Sky Sports
Graham Potter will have sought assurances about what transfers he can do at Everton, according to Rob Dorsett.
The Sky Sports News journalist reported on 7 January that Potter, 49, has been in talks with high-ranking officials at both Goodison Park and Wets Ham United.
However, it is understood that due to how different his and Sean Dyche’s styles of play are, Potter will have reportedly spoken in-depth about what the state of play is with transfers on Merseyside if he gets the role.
“My understanding is that while Graham Potter and his representatives have been in talks with both West Ham and Everton in recent times, we reported on Sky Sports News throughout the last couple of days, he has spoken to both clubs and people high up there,” said Dorsett on Sky Sports News (7:25pm, 7 January).
“Part of the discussion has been, ‘what transfer budget is there and what money have we got to spend on players?’. We know that if Graham Potter was to go to Everton, his style of football would be very, very different to Sean Dyche’s that’s there at the moment, so he’d want a different squad.
“If he didn’t think he could change those players in the next season and a bit, that might put him off.”
Who will be the new Everton manager?
Dyche seems as though he’s now on borrowed time at Everton Football Club with the Blues’ manager admitting to the media on Tuesday (7 January) that he’s facing uncertainty over his job [Express].
It’s been widely reported that former Chelsea and Brighton manager Potter is now in contention to replace him. However, it seems as though West Ham are already marching on ahead with sacking Julen Lopetegui, which means they’ll be able to get Potter through the door first.
And let’s face it, while Everton are the bigger club, West Ham are probably the better team to opt for right now.

They’ve recently won a European trophy, they’re in a better starting point than the Toffees are and they have less uncertainly around them in general.
Sure, TFG are the owners at the Merseyside club now – but will they be trigger happy? David Sullivan, West Ham’s co-chairman, isn’t known for hacking through the managers quite like Farhad Moshiri did.
Yes, there’s an exciting chapter ahead for Everton moving to Bramley-Moore Dock but there are also going to be doubts for managers – and players – who could be lined up in the coming months and years,
