Alan Brazil reacts as Carlo Ancelotti mooted for sensational Everton return

Alan Brazil “can’t see” Carlo Ancelotti wanting to return to Everton after Sean Dyche was sacked.

The Englishman was relieved of his duties just three hours before the Toffees’ FA Cup clash where they beat League One side Peterborough 2-0 on Thursday.

Ancelotti is one of the most successful managers in recent Everton times and fans still have fond memories of the Italian’s tenure in Merseyside.

Speaking live on talkSPORT Shebahn Aherne brought up the idea of the Real Madrid boss returning to Goodison Park when he leaves the Santiago Bernabeu, which Brazil shut down almost instantly.

“The Friedkin Group do make big moves, was it Ranieri that they brought out of retirement as well,” Aherne said.

“There was a column earlier on in the early breakfast show that said it could be Carlo Ancelotti because there’s a likeliness that he could leave Real Madrid, would David Moyes take a short-term contract and then they bring in Ancelotti?”

To which Brazil replied: “No I can’t see that.”

Carlo Ancelotti would be an incredible coup for Everton

Although it feels almost nailed-on that David Moyes will take up the Toffees’ hot seat after Dyche was sacked, if there’s any chance of Ancelotti returning, the Friedkin Group should explore it.

At the moment, things are pretty doom and gloom in the blue half of Merseyside and it feels like fans need something to pick their spirits back up.

While Moyes would no doubt be a breath of fresh air around the Everton camp, if Everton explored a deal for a different, more attacking manager, things might end up going more in their favour.

Ancelotti’s deal with Real Madrid is set to expire in June 2026 so there are still 18 months left on his deal but there have been rumours that the 65-year-old could look for a way out this summer.

Only time will tell what the Friedkins choose to do but at the moment, it feels like the Scotsman is going to make a grand return.
