Everton shareholder reacts as David Moyes twist emerges

Everton shareholder Mike Parry is thrilled with the news of David Moyes taking over at Goodison Park.

Sky Sports News reported on 10 January that Moyes is meeting with the Toffees officials on Friday to agree a deal and return to the club.

The Friedkin Group have wasted no time in finding a replacement for Sean Dyche after sacking him on 9 January.

Parry wrote on X: “This the world’s greatest news, Everton. Magic.”

David Moyes may not be the best long-term appointment for Everton

Getting Moyes for the short term makes sense but whether or not he’s the answer for the longer term, remains to be seen.

He’s undoubtedly had great times at the club but there is a feeling that the Scotsman’s past his peak and has not really adapted to the modern game.

Fans may want someone young and upcoming who’s achieved tangible success over the last five years and can play expansive football.

Moyes will be great in terms of nostalgia and getting a tune out of the players in the short term, but it remains to be seen what kind of long-term impact he has.

While he did win a European trophy recently at West Ham, their league run was abysmal and the Hammers had quality players among their ranks.

Given all of The Friedkin Group’s experiences in football, it’s surprising that Moyes is the name they appear to be narrowing in on.
