Moyes Everton return: Movement expected in next 12 hours amid TFG talks
Ben Jacobs said more should be known about David Moyes’ return to Everton to replace Sean Dyche in the next 12 hours amid planned talks with the Friedkin Group.
The Friedkins moved quickly when relieving the 53-year-old from his duties with the decision being announced just three hours before their FA Cup tie against Peterborough on Thursday (9 January).
At the moment, it seems that Moyes is the one who is most likely to take over the role with Jacobs saying that both parties want a deal to be done “quickly”.
“I think it’s very likely [that Moyes is hired], I mean there’s talks today [Thursday] between Moyes and the Friedkin Group so we expect to learn more within the next 12 hours or so,” he said live on talkSPORT (10 January, 06:52am).
“It’s very likely that David Moyes is not only the front runner but a quick deal that will be done simply because Everton don’t want a situation of limbo.”
Later in the show, the topic of Moyes was revised and Jacobs added: “I think that Moyes and the Friedkin Group will work out the specifics and then there is a high likelihood that he does return to Goodison Park.”
Is David Moyes the man to turn things around at Everton?
Since Moyes was booted out of his role at West Ham United upon the expiry of his contract last season, fans have been calling for the Toffees to bring the Scotsman back to Goodison Park.
Although after the summer window, the Toffees’ fanbase was fairly happy with Dyche at the helm due to the solid work he did the season before, that soon changed when results didn’t go their way.
Some solid names were welcomed through the Goodison Park doors in the summer with the likes of Iliman Ndiaye being a stand-out performer this term.
The main thorn in the Merseyside outfits side this term has been the lack of goals that their strikers have scored.

And now, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti all sidelined for the foreseeable future, it seems that all the pressure is going to fall upon the head of Beto, even though he already has one foot out of the exit door.
While Moyes will bring a breath of fresh air to the camp, it feels like he’s got an awful lot to do if he doesn’t want the Toffees to be in a relegation battle by the end of the term.
