Robbie Savage hits out at ‘Nonsense’ Everton fan after Moyes comeback
Everton will not win a trophy after appointing David Moyes as manager, according to Robbie Savage.
The former Welsh midfielder was baffled when one fan suggested the Toffees could win the FA Cup after the Scotsman replaced Sean Dyche.
Savage called the idea “absolute nonsense” and took a dig by claiming the Blues could win the Championship next year.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 Football Phone In (11 January), the 50-year-old said: “You think this group of players at Everton can win something under Moyes? Absolute nonsense.
“Are they going to win the Championship next year? That’s the only chance they have got of winning.”
Everton need to be realistic after David Moyes return
Dyche had seemingly taken the team as far as he could, and the Merseyside outfit had regressed under him this season.
The English manager’s sacking was inevitable and could have come sooner from the Goodison faithful’s perspective.
With the Toffees just a point above the relegation zone, Moyes is tasked with keeping them in the Premier League as his first job.
Everton and the Scotsman share a massive history together, making his arrival rather prudent.

The emotional connection that the 61-year-old has with the Blues can play an influential role in motivating them to survive and go to Bramley-Moore Dock next season with their top-flight status intact.
Moyes never won a trophy in his first stint at the Merseyside outfit, but he did manage to take them to the FA Cup final in 2009.
The Scottish head coach did win the Europa Conference League title at West Ham in 2023, but that feat feels unreachable for the foreseeable future at the Toffees.
What Moyes needs to focus on right now is surviving the drop, trophies can come later on.
