David Moyes to make striker transfer at Everton despite ‘Terrific’ verdict
Henry Winter believes the performances of the Everton strikers this season means that David Moyes needs to sign a striker in the January transfer window.
The Toffees’ main thorn in their side this term has been the lack of goals that their number nines have scored, leaving them in a bit of a sticky situation with just Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil to rely upon.
Now that Armando Broja is injured and the form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been well below par despite the journalist saying he’s “terrific” footballer, Winter believes that it’s vital that a new striker is brought in.
“Three hours before an FA Cup it was a little bit of a surprise [to see Dyche sacked],” he said live on talkSPORT (12 December, 10:50am).
“Overall, probably not in terms of the music, Bournemouth fans were chanting ‘what’s it like to watch this every week’ or something along those lines to Everton fans.
“Obviously, new owners, the Friedkin Group have come in and they tend not to sort of hang around, Dyche would have probably kept them up.
“I mean maybe one or two of his comments, obviously their performances were disappointing but they also need a striker.
“Broja, he’s injured, Beto is not good enough and Dominic Calvert-Lewin I think is a terrific player but he’s had his injuries as well so there has to be some sort of Sympathy for Dyche.”
David Moyes needs to bring a striker to Everton in January
Of all the areas among Moyes’ team that need bolstering, it feels like a striker is by far and away the most crucial.
At the moment, Beto is one of the only number nines within the Merseyside outfit who can lead the attacking line and even though he looked set for a move back to Italy, it’s evident that that now won’t be the case.
Although the former Udinese man has been miles off the pace this term, when compared to the rest of the players in the squad, he’s the best option to lead Everton’s line, which is rather worrying.

A couple of names have already been linked with a Goodison Park switch such as Jaden Philogene and Ernest Nuamah but neither of those deals are likely to come to fruition.
Only time will tell what the future holds but if Moyes doesn’t bring in a new striker, he may as well accept the Toffees’ fate of relegation now.
In other Everton news, the Toffees could have finally found their solution to a “significant issue” they’ve had at Goodison Park.
