Everton early team news v Aston Villa: Moyes shares Broja and McNeil updates
Armando Broja is set for another scan as Everton prepare for their next Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Wednesday, David Moyes has confirmed.
The 23-year-old loanee managed just 21 minutes as a second-half substitute on Thursday (9 January), having replaced Beto, with Dwight McNeil seemingly also set to miss out on 15 January.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Beto and Broja all misfiring this season, the Toffees cannot afford any more major injuries if Moyes is to lead the current team away from the Premier League relegation zone.
Speaking to the media [Everton YouTube], Moyes said: “He’s going for another scan. There’s one moment when we thought it wasn’t too bad, so we’re doubling up and just waiting for a bit of swelling to go down before he goes for another scan.
“Hopefully, we’ll get a better idea in the coming days. No [not ready], Dwight’s still got an ongoing knee issue and Dominic’s trained today so we think he should be okay.”

Moyes will be keen to kick off his second spell as Toffees manager with an unexpected victory against Emery’s high-flying Aston Villa team.
Just one point above the relegation zone, The Friedkin Group clearly had no other choice but to sack Sean Dyche, with it being understood the manager felt he had taken the team as far as he could.
With only Southampton scoring fewer goals in the Premier League this term, there is a clear issue in the final third and that will need to be addressed under the new manager.
A new blow to Broja certainly will not be of any help, considering he spent the first few weeks of his loan spell on the sidelines, but there should be more than enough talent in the squad to cope.
Moyes’ return to Goodison Park has raised eyebrows but TFG clearly felt it was time to part ways with Dyche and find someone with a proven track record in the Premier League.
