Everton transfers: £8.4m development emerges in Devyne Rensch quest

Ajax want around £8.4million if they are to part ways with Everton target Devyne Rensch in January, according to Algemeen Dagblad.

The news outlet reported on 13 January that Roma tabled a £4.2million bid but the Dutch side are looking for around twice that amount for the right-back.

Everton must find alternatives to Devyne Rensch

The club’s financial constraints make it highly unlikely that they’ll meet Ajax’s £8.4million valuation for Rensch.

They have been operating under tight budgets due to PSR and the ongoing financial restructuring following the takeover by The Friedkin Group.

Given their recent history of cautious spending, with a focus on loans and free agents rather than large transfer fees, committing to such a sum for one player in January seems improbable.

Everton’s transfer strategy has been about maximising value within their limited financial scope and while Rensch represents a quality long-term investment, the immediate financial realities suggest they might need to explore more cost-effective alternatives.

With players like Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman still on the books, and the club’s priority likely being squad depth across multiple positions, the Merseyside outfit may have to redirect their focus towards players who offer similar potential at a lower cost or through different acquisition methods like loans or pre-contracts.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have submitted a bid to secure the services of a “wonderful” winger in January.
