Premier League slammed as ‘Ridiculous’ amid Everton PSR news
Stefan Borson believes it’s “ridiculous” that the Premier League haven’t shared an update a potential third PSR breach hanging over Everton since last season.
In some good news for top-flight teams, all teams have managed to meet the Premier League’s PSR rules for the 2023/24 season [Martyn Ziegler].
However, after the Toffees were charged for two separate breaches last term, there’s still one out-standing issue regarding the interest on their new Bramley Moore-Dock stadium that hasn’t yet been resolved towards their 2022-23 PSR results [The Athletic].
Finance Expert Borson slammed the Premier League for not providing an update on that dispute, writing on his personal X account (14 January) “They [Premier League] have to announce what’s happened with Everton’s case – ridiculous for no comment anywhere.”
Everton have avoided facing off with the Premier League again
Last season was arguably one of the toughest in the Toffees’ history with the club being deducted eight points from their top-flight total due to their two breaches of the Premier League’s PSR rules.
However, despite the adversity that the Merseyside outfit faced, Sean Dyche still kept them up and retained their top-flight status.
Dyche has obviously now been relieved of his duties with David Moyes back at the helm, and the Premier League should really be stating where things are at with that dispute because everyone is completely in the dark.
With the Friedkin Group now in charge, it does feel like the Toffees are going to be much more financially viable moving forward that is the important thing, but the issues of the past need completely resolving.

For now, full focus can now be turned towards making their way out of the relegation battle and perhaps figuring out a way to get their strikers to start firing again.
With a move to the beautiful new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock to look forward to, things are certainly looking up – but retaining Premier League status is absolutely paramount.
