Calvert-Lewin exit: Ex-Everton man now trying to sign striker – Bryan King
Bryan King has revealed that the Atalanta scout involved in negotiations for Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a former Everton employee.
The ex-Goodison scout claims that he worked with the scout in question during his time with the Toffees, after Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon (12 January) that Atalanta are pushing to sign Calvert-Lewin.
West Ham are also interested in a deal for the striker [via GiveMeSport, 13 January], while Newcastle speculation continues to swirl [via The Chronicle, 14 January, page 44].
And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has shed a bit more light onto the man leading Atalanta’s transfer charge.
“That Atalanta scout hasn’t had very far to travel,” King said.
“He used to work for Everton. He’s the head of the UK and Europe, the scout in question, I know him well. If Atalanta are looking at English players, this man knows English players, and if they’re looking at Calvert-Lewin, I’m sure the scout would be on the ball with that one.
“I wouldn’t be surprised to see this scout return to Everton one day, he worked there when I was there.”
Atalanta pushing to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin
If Atalanta have a former Everton employee involved in negotiations, that could help them to secure Calvert-Lewin’s signature.
However, it remains to be seen if the 27-year-old will leave Goodison Park. Calvert-Lewin has continually been linked with a move away from Everton in recent transfer windows, but things have changed.
Now that David Moyes is in charge, and Sean Dyche has left, the club might be reconsidering allowing Calvert-Lewin to leave, and could instead push for the forward to sign a new contract if that is what Moyes wants.

Therefore, it appears as though fans will have to wait and see what Moyes’ stance on the situation is.
