David Moyes announces crushing Everton injury blow straight after defeat

David Moyes has revealed that Armando Broja could return to Chelsea after suffering an injury during the Everton clash against Peterborough.

The Toffees loanee was forced off in the FA Cup tie on 9 January after six appearances since December after recovering from a long-term injury issue.

It now looks as if the Albania international could be done at Goodison Park after Moyes confirmed the serious nature of his latest issue, shared via the L4 club’s official X account (15 December).

He said: “We think he’s going to be out for somewhere between 10-12 weeks. It’s his ankle ligaments. It’ll probably mean there’s a possibility that he will have to go back to Chelsea.”

Everton loanee Armando Broja could return to Chelsea

The 23-year-old has had very little luck with injuries in recent years after breaking through as a starlet on loan at Southampton in 2021.

It felt as if the striker was turning a corner after making his way into the starting XI at Goodison after recovering from an injury.

In recent weeks, despite not scoring, the loanee’s presence certainly made the Toffees look like a stronger outfit in a rough patch of form under Sean Dyche.

It was certainly a huge blow and disappointment to see him go off in the FA Cup and that blow has only been worsened by this latest update.

To lose the Albanian for the rest of the season could mean that across his entire season-long loan spell at Goodison, he only made six appearances which is frustrating in itself.

Supporters will have to wait and see what happens with the forward and whether he can make some sort of return on Merseyside.
