Leon Osman shares honest opinion of new Everton stadium
Leon Osman was left wowed by the way that the new Bramley Moore-Dock stadium looks as he described the Toffees’ new home as “elite“.
The Toffees haven’t had the best of campaigns thus far but with David Moyes now back in charge, things could finally start to turn around.
Moyes, speaking in his pre-Aston Villa press conference shared that the Toffees now have an “elite” stadium but now they need some “elite” players to go with it, to which Osman responded by saying:
“I mean you’re talking about a team who has been at the bottom of the Premier League for numerous seasons now,” he said on the BBC’s Football News Show (14 January).
“So I think when he’s talking about the stadium, it’s elite in every aspect, especially in the fact that you know it’s right up there with one of the best in the country and if you start comparing the stadium now to the squad, the squad is not one of the best in the country.
“They’re in continuous relegation battles so I think we all understood exactly what it meant.
“I think you know the players in the dresser room will be thick-skinned enough to also understand what he meant with that situation as they quickly start working together.”
Everton need David Moyes to hit the ground running instantly
As Osman alluded to, the Toffees’ new stadium is nothing short of outstanding and the fact that its first season could be spent with Everton in the Championship is quite concerning.
While the Merseyside outfit aren’t yet in the bottom three places in the top flight table, it feels like they could be heading that way if things don’t turn around.
Of course, with Moyes now at the helm, the new momentum the team will gain due to a new face leading the way could prove vital in them beating opponents such as Aston Villa on Wednesday.

At the moment, it’s unclear how well the 61-year-old is going to do at the second time of asking but for now at least, fans and pundits are feeling fairly optimistic.
If he can’t manage to turn things around, however, it could genuinely end up being one of the biggest failures in the club’s history, especially after what they survived last season.
