Ian Wright makes ‘Perfect’ Moyes admission, shares what Everton fans will love

Ian Wright believes David Moyes is “perfect” for Everton after returning to Goodison.

The Scot came in for his second stint in charge of the Toffees earlier in January to replace Sean Dyche who was surprisingly sacked.

The 61-year-old has already taken charge of his first game in L4, losing 1-0 to Aston Villa in a close-fought game on Wednesday (15 January).

Regardless of this, Wright has suggested, on the Stick to Football podcast (16 January) that the former Manchester United boss is the ideal head coach for the Goodison club.

He said: “He’s perfect, Moyes, for going in there with the new stadium. With everything going on, if you’re an Everton fan you probably feel that at least we got someone who knows the club.

“He does love Everton and they know he’ll do everything to blast them back.”

There was plenty to like about Dyche’s spell at Goodison but it is safe to say that it was beginning to turn sour, regardless of his achievements.

The Englishman did so well to keep the Toffees in the Premier League in his first two seasons in charge but his style of play began to grate on supporters this campaign.

The link between the manager and fans potentially wasn’t quite there which has ultimately had a telling impact on him facing the sack.

It is unlikely that Moyes will face a similar fate given his existing relationship with the blue side of Merseyside after his prior 11-year spell in charge.

The former Manchester United boss’ knowledge of the L4 club will serve him well as he looks to have a positive impact in the second half of the campaign.

Wright is right with what he is saying about the Scot and his relationship to Goodison which should serve him well moving forward.

In other Everton news, a bid of at least £16.3m is needed to start talks over a new transfer.
