Sean Dyche ‘shows his class’ with Everton statement after Moyes appointment
Sean Dyche has shown his class with a statement after Everton appointed David Moyes as his replacement at Goodison Park.
The former Burnley man was sacked on 9 January with the Blues in 16th place in the Premier League, just a small gap above the relegation zone.
Moyes, 61, was announced as his replacement just two days later (11 January) returning to Goodison Park 12 years on from his first stint in the dugout.
However, any disappointment that Dyche may have was put aside as he backed his successor to “push the club forward again and build on the stable footing” that he implemented in a new statement via the League Manager’s Association.
Everton history will reflect well on Dyche
Despite a dismal end to his reign in which the Blues failed to win their last five matches and scored just one goal, Dyche’s spell in charge was successful given the circumstances.
He had to deal with severe financial issues in his time at the club which limited their transfer activity with the constant threat of breaching Profit and Sustainability regulations.
The Toffees were docked a total of eight points last season but the 53-year-old managed to keep their top-flight status, finishing in 15th place despite the chaos off the pitch.

It was evident that he cared about the club and gave his all to keep the Blues in the Premier League despite what must have been a hard time mentally with so much turmoil.
Dyche has left Moyes with a squad that is defensively solid but is lacking goalscorers, something which the Scot must fix if the Toffees are to stay up this season.
History will look favourably on his time at Goodison Park, despite the poor performance of his team and this latest gesture shows his class.
In other Everton news, a talkSPORT host has warned Moyes that the Everton he has returned to is a “different animal”.
