Everton ready talks to sign Dewsbury-Hall in double transfer swoop

Everton want Chelsea duo Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Ben Chilwell in the winter transfer window, according to CaughtOffside.

The news outlet reports (17 January) that the Toffees will hold talks with the West London club to sign the midfielder and left-back in the coming weeks.

David Moyes’ team are exploring the loan market to reinforce their squad before the 3 February deadline and will ask Chelsea about the availability of their players.

Everton would seal survival with Chelsea double transfer

The Merseyside outfit are currently fighting for survival in the Premier League, sitting 16th in the table.

Sean Dyche left the Toffees in lurch, and Moyes is now tasked with picking the pieces at Goodison, which will undoubtedly be challenging.

The Scottish manager arguably got a reality check as the Blues lost 1-0 to Aston Villa at home on Wednesday (15 January).

While the Merseysiders have one game in hand over their relegation rivals, that fixture will be against Liverpool, the best team in the English top flight this season.

Everton have struggled for quality in their ranks over the last few years, but the engine room looks decent with Idrissa Gueye, Orel Mangala and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

It remains to be seen, though, how many of them remain at Goodison in the summer, making an approach for Dewsbury-Hall sensible.

Vitalii Mykolenko has struggled at left-back in the current campaign, and Chilwell could provide the Ukrainian with the necessary competition.

Given the Toffees’ current financial situation, it would be surprising if they were able to close both deals in the winter window.
