
Everton sources: Brutal Calvert-Lewin transfer news emerges
Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin will not be joining Atalanta, Goodison News understands.
Alan Nixon reported via his Patreon on 12 January that Atalanta were pushing to sign Calvert-Lewin, with the Serie A side understood to have sent a representative to Goodison Park to negotiate a deal.
Following on from these reports, former Everton scout Bryan King exclusively revealed to Goodison News on 15 January that the Atalanta scout involved in negations used to work for the Toffees.
However, Goodison News has learned that Calvert-Lewin will not be joining Atalanta.
Atalanta to pass up on Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin
A recruitment source with close links to Everton has revealed to Goodison News that Calvert-Lewin is no longer of interest to Atalanta.
The source has been told by someone with direct involvement in negotiations that the deal is off.
Goodison News understands that in a brutal twist, Atalanta do not think the striker is good enough to play for the club.
However, while a move to Atalanta is no longer on the table, Calvert-Lewin could still leave Goodison Park with a host of other clubs interested in the 27-year-old, including Newcastle United [via The Chronicle, 14 January, page 44].

Calvert-Lewin is out of contract at the end of the current season, although the club are still confident of agreeing a new deal with the Englishman [via Graeme Bailey, 16 January].
Calvert-Lewin has scored 70 goals and provided 19 assists in 267 appearances for Everton since signing for the Toffees from Sheffield United in 2016.
