Dele Alli shares Everton-Tottenham video clip as he agrees terms for new club

Dele Alli has shared an Instagram video of himself playing for Tottenham against Everton after agreeing to sign a deal with Como.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Saturday (18 January) that the ex-Blues and Spurs man will sign his contract with the Serie A outfit on Sunday (19 January).

Although the midfielder had continued training at Finch Farm following the expiry of his contract, his future on Merseyside was set in stone and he departed for Como to continue his rehabilitation upon a return to football.

Now, Alli shared an Instagram video (18 January) in a cryptic tribute to his former Premier League employers, depicting himself scoring a goal for Tottenham against the Toffees.

Everton fans will have questions over Dele Alli video

The former England international endured a tremendous fall from grace at Tottenham, as off-the-pitch issues and injury concerns stunted a once-promising career.

Once the die had been cast in North London, Everton offered him a golden opportunity to resurrect his career in the Premier League and while the move did not pan out as hoped, ex-boss Frank Lampard took a chance on him when no one else would.

Therefore, posting a video of himself scoring at Goodison Park for Spurs can easily be interpreted as a back-handed dig at his former employers.

Indeed, Tottenham gave Alli the platform which led to his remarkable rise from League One to Premier League stardom, but he had countless backing, albeit in vain, on Merseyside.

Everton also loaned the 28-year-old to Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas in a last-ditch attempt to improve his form when game time at Goodison Park was limited.

Alli should thank the Blues for allowing him to continue his development at Finch Farm, which led to an invitation to train at Como, which subsequently led to another top-flight move against all the odds.

Regardless of the public perception of Alli, it is a bad look for the midfielder to send a cryptic tribute to Everton after all they have done for him.
