Jamie Carragher wowed by what Everton ace did v Tottenham – ‘Twinkle Toes’
Jamie Carragher was left wowed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin after his “massive” Everton moment that sent them 1-0 up against Tottenham in their Premier League clash.
The striker opened up the scoring in the first 15 minutes of the game and finally managed to bag himself a goal after being passed a decent ball from Idrissa Gueye which then led to the Englishman bobbing and weaving around Spurs’ defence which eventually led to him finding an opening to slot the ball into.
Speaking live on Sky Sports Premier League (19 January, 14:11pm), ex-Liverpool defender Carragher shared his thoughts on the striker’s finish.
“Twinkle toes from Calvert-Lewin in the box, we haven’t said that too often about Calvert-Lewin this season or last season, that’s a massive goal not just for Everton but for the start of this new tenure under David Moyes,” Carragher said.
“He just gives the goalkeeper the eyes there and flicks it into that near post.”
Everton went on to win the game 3-2 at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin could finally turn around his form at Everton
The main thorn in Everton’s side this season has been the lack of goals they’ve scored.
While Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil have performed to the best of their abilities, the likes of Calvert-Lewin and Beto have let the Merseyside outfit down.
That’s because even if your defensive line is solid, which Everton’s is, you still need somebody to be able to put the ball into the back of the net and earn you an odd three points here and there.
While nobody is expecting the Toffees’ strike force to be 20-goal-a-season strikers, it would be nice to see them at least hit double figures which is something they’ve failed to do over the last couple of years.

Not only would this increase their chances of survival tenfold but it would also allow Everton to focus their recruitment efforts on other areas in the squad.
As the Englishman has finally netted his first goal in what seems like forever, it feels like this could be a turning point in the Toffees’ season, if he can keep it up.
