David Moyes ‘already in agreement’ for ‘interesting’ Everton transfer

David Moyes possibly already has an agreement for an Everton signing in the winter transfer window, The Esk says.

The Toffees’ forensic analyst would be “amazed” to learn that the Scottish manager doesn’t have a deal for an “interesting” player lined up already before 3 February.

With the Blues currently in a relegation battle, David Moyes picked up his first win over Tottenham on Sunday for a vital three points.

Speaking on Talking the Blues podcast (21 January), The Esk said: “I would be amazed if he was to not already have an agreement in this transfer window to bring in somebody where everybody goes, ‘Oh. Okay. That sounds interesting’.”

Everton need to help David Moyes with winter transfers

The ex-West Ham boss is expected to maintain the Merseyside outfit’s Premier League status this season.

After beating Tottenham 3-2 on 19 January at Goodison Park, the Toffees are still 16th in the table but have increased the gap with their relegation rivals.

Moyes will evidently want The Friedkin Group (TFG) to sanction a few transfers in the coming weeks, especially at both ends of the pitch.

Everton have lacked the cutting edge in their forward line this season, while their defensive record has also been worrisome.

The Scottish manager will know that his team almost allowed Spurs back into the game despite a three-goal advantage, with Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison scoring late.

With small margins at the bottom of the table, the Blues can’t afford any slip-ups in the coming months and must prepare well in the winter window.

A number nine and a defensive reinforcement would significantly boost the Merseyside outfit’s chances of survival.

It will be interesting to see what the chiefs at Goodison Park have in store before deadline day.
